Screen Acting: Useful for Everyone. Essential for Performers.

Ofqual-regulated Film & TV qualifications that unlock camera confidence, UCAS points & real self-tape skills.

No special equipment required.

Exam Content & Assessment

While MN Screen Acting grades are primarily solo examinations designed to assess individual performance skills, we incorporate duologues at every level to enrich the learning experience and reflect industry standards. In these duologues, scene partners must deliver opposing dialogue off-camera, simulating real-world self-tapes and casting scenarios where actors interact with another person. This approach enables learners to engage in dynamic exchanges, fostering their ability to respond naturally. This dual focus ensures our students develop comprehensive acting techniques that reflect the collaborative nature of the Film & TV industry, preparing them for both individual and ensemble performances in professional settings. Even during our monologue tasks, learners are encouraged to sit with a scene partner opposite them, (scene partners can react but not talk).

Results & Certification

We’re committed to a smooth and reliable turnaround. Each exam is carefully reviewed and quality-assured before results are released, with digital certificates issued within two weeks of submission. Every certificate carries the same official recognition as a printed version, just faster, greener, and easier to share.

As part of our sustainability pledge, we plant a tree for every exam entered, meaning every achievement contributes to a growing global impact. Our two-week turnaround ensures learners are recognised promptly while helping keep the creative industries and the planet thriving.

Marking & Attainment Bands

Each task within every graded examination is accompanied by a comprehensive set of assessment criteria, meticulously organised into the following categories to ensure a thorough and objective evaluation of learners' performances:

Audience

Engagement & Knowledge

Technical

Each task within the graded examinations is defined by specific assessment criteria, each is assigned a maximum score. Upon the conclusion of the exam, the average score for each criterion is calculated and subsequently summed to determine the total marks and the resulting percentage. This structured approach ensures that learners are evaluated equitably, utilising evidence-based decision-making to maintain the integrity and fairness of the assessment process.

Why MN Knows Screen Acting Is the Key to a Professional Acting Career

What many people don’t realise is that MN began as an acting agency Middleweek Newton Talent Management, and we’ve represented actors for over a decade. In that time, we’ve taken performers from complete beginners all the way to Olivier Award wins and BAFTA nominations, and we continue to represent working professionals across film, TV, and theatre today.

Because of the sheer number of self-tapes we prepare, review, and put in front of casting directors, we know more than most how vital screen training really is. Over 90% of modern acting opportunities are on screen, from film and TV to commercials and gaming. Screen acting is a completely different craft from theatre, and performers who understand it early gain a clear advantage. Without the ability to perform truthfully, simply, and professionally on camera, even the most talented actors struggle to break through.

If you’re serious about acting, learning how to perform on camera isn’t optional; it’s the foundation the industry now expects.

UCAS & UCAS POINTS

Ofqual-Regulated Screen Acting Grades and UCAS Points

All of our Screen Acting Grades are regulated by Ofqual, ensuring that our Level 3 qualifications carry UCAS points. This accreditation aids learners in progressing into higher education by providing recognised credentials that universities value.

Understanding UCAS and UCAS Points

UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, is the UK's central organisation responsible for managing applications to undergraduate courses at universities and colleges. UCAS points are a numerical system used to measure the relative value of post-16 qualifications, such as A-levels and BTECs. Points are allocated based on the grades achieved, enabling universities to assess and compare applicants effectively for their undergraduate programmes.

MN Qualifications That Carry UCAS Points

Our Level 3 Screen Acting Grades are the primary MN Qualifications that carry UCAS points. By completing these qualifications, learners earn points that enhance their university applications, providing a competitive edge in the admissions process. This integration of UCAS points into our qualifications underscores our commitment to supporting learners' academic and professional aspirations within the film and television industries.

MN Awards is the first Ofqual-recognised awarding body specialising in Film & TV. Our grades were developed over more than a decade via our London based adult classes - MN Actors Academy - to bridge the gap between stage and screen, giving learners confidence, camera awareness, and technical control.
